FIN 699 - Capstone Project Investment Fund Units: 3 Students will actively manage a stock portfolio with real money in real investments. Hands- on experiential learning in the investment process and integrating knowledge and skills from prior finance and investment courses by applying theories to practice.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Synchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall, Spring, or Summer
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Adhere to and apply the fund’s stated Investment Policy Statement guidelines, thereby demonstrating professional responsibility and fiduciary awareness.
- Develop proficiency in Microsoft Excel by practicing core functions and applying statistical procedures to quantitatively analyze large datasets of firm fundamentals within financial models.
- Develop and defend professional analyst reports that synthesize quantitative analysis, risk assessment, and investment thesis to effectively convey a clear recommendation to the Student Investment Fund Advisory Board.
- Collaborate effectively with peers to orally present and defend an investment recommendation to the Student Investment Fund Advisory Board.
