FIN 699 - Capstone Project Investment Fund


Units: 3
Students will actively manage a stock portfolio with real money in real investments. Hands- on experiential learning in the investment process and integrating knowledge and skills from prior finance and investment courses by applying theories to practice.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall, Spring, or Summer


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Adhere to and apply the fund’s stated Investment Policy Statement guidelines, thereby demonstrating professional responsibility and fiduciary awareness.
  2. Develop proficiency in Microsoft Excel by practicing core functions and applying statistical procedures to quantitatively analyze large datasets of firm fundamentals within financial models.
  3. Develop and defend professional analyst reports that synthesize quantitative analysis, risk assessment, and investment thesis to effectively convey a clear recommendation to the Student Investment Fund Advisory Board.
  4. Collaborate effectively with peers to orally present and defend an investment recommendation to the Student Investment Fund Advisory Board.
