BIOL 402 - Preparation for Undergraduate Instruction in Biology Units: 3 Prepares students for the roles and responsibilities of teaching biology at the undergraduate level. Involves training in disciplinary pedagogy, policies, and safety. Provides opportunities to develop teaching skills, access resources, receive feedback, and participate in a support network.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: 1. Design a learning activity/create learning materials that include assessable learning outcomes in the integration of pedagogical strategies to help students achieve those learning outcomes.
2. Facilitate effective group discussion and other student-centered learning activities.
3. Develop teaching skills through participation in various “micro-teaching” simulations.
4. Develop consistent grading criteria and provide robust feedback in the assessment of student work.
5. Provide self-assessment as well as constructive feedback to peers to improve teaching skills.
