EESC 375 - Fire Ecology and Management

Investigation of human-fire relationships across cultures worldwide. Application of field methods for studying fire ecology with the aim to improve fire management and policy in California. Formerly GEOG 375.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Explain the interactions between cultural practices and worldviews, fire regimes, and ecology.
  2. Explain how historical and contemporary social and ecological policies affect Indigenous peoples, fire regimes, and ecological communities.
  3. Apply socio-ecological field methods to evaluate the effects of fire management.
