CIVE 206 - Engineering Materials and Laboratory

Introduction to the composition, structure, properties, and behavior of civil engineering materials. Experimental design, testing and analysis of construction materials. 

Prerequisites: PHYS 135
Co-requisites: CHEM 110
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand the fundamental behavior of and the mechanical and non-mechanical properties of materials.
  2. Identify the testing methods for construction materials, and assess their properties in the laboratory.
  3. Evaluate the properties of different construction materials for their applications in different civil engineering design solutions.
  4. Create concrete mixture designs based on applicable engineering standards.
