SLHS 496 - Research Experience in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences


Units: 1-3
Students will acquire knowledge of research methods in speech, language, and hearing sciences and gain hands-on research experience.

Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a total of 12 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: ABC/NC grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe and apply fundamental principles of research design and methodology used in communication sciences and disorders, including qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  2. Critically evaluate peer-reviewed research articles in speech-language pathology to assess the validity, reliability, and clinical relevance of the findings.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of ethical considerations in research, including informed consent, participant confidentiality, and responsible conduct of research.
