SLHS 407 - Clinical Methods and Diagnostics Units: 3 Basic principles of client assessment, treatment and management, including designing therapy hierarchies, collecting data, working with families, reinforcing correct behavior and documenting outcomes.
Prerequisites: SLHS 204, SLHS 302, SLHS 305, SLHS 404 Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Discuss professional conduct, collaboration, and advocacy expected of a speech-language pathologist per the ASHA code of ethics.
- Critically evaluate and interpret components of standardized and non-standardized client screening and assessment.
- Select appropriate, evidence-based clinical approaches and procedures.
- Record and analyze client performance.
- Develop components of assessment plans, treatment plans, and clinical reports.
- Describe considerations of clients’ cultural and linguistic background in the assessment and intervention processes.
