SLHS 403 - Audiometry Lab Units: 1 Students engage in supervised instruction and experience in audiometric screening. May be used for partial fulfillment of roles and responsibilities of SLP assistants or school audiometrists.
Prerequisites: SLHS Declared Major Co-requisites: SLHS 402. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate correct use of specific equipment for audiological screening and evaluation (e.g., holding and inserting an otoscope; using pure tone audiometry and tympanometry equipment)
- Conduct otoscopy for adults and children, under supervision.
- Complete 5-10 hours of supervised audiometric screening using a variety of clinical techniques, including pure tone audiometry and otoacoustic emissions.
- Document the results of audiometric screening.
