HIST 403 - Humanities in the Age of Artificial Intelligence Units: 4
Investigate how technology, including artificial intelligence, intersects with the humanities. Review of theoretical and ethical perspectives and exemplary digital humanities projects. Hands-on experience with digital tools and AI for historical research and analysis, community engagement, and workplace-ready skills.
Prerequisites: Advanced, upper-division standing, with more than 60 college units completed or in progress is required. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Analyze how technologies, including artificial intelligence, shape recent humanities scholarship, with a focus upon historical inquiry;
- Evaluate digital humanities projects and technological practices for their scholarly, ethical, and community impact;
- Apply digital and AI tools to conduct and share historical research;
- Collaborate to share student projects orally and to provide peer feedback;
- Explain how humanities-based digital skills translate to professional and career contexts.
