BAN 610 - Database Management and Applications

Units: 3
Data modeling, database design and implementation, database administration, and database applications. Topics include: database design, incorporating business rules into entity-relationship (ER) models, relational and NoSQL database design, normalization of database tables, SQL languages and ETL concepts.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Analyze database concepts, different database models, and database management systems.
  2. Develop SQL statements to create, manipulate, and query databases.
  3. Design and develop a typical enterprise database.
  4. Utilize commercially available database management systems.
  5. Identify database management issues including data integrity, security, and recovery.
