SOC 491 - Professional Development Units: 2
Explores career paths for Sociology majors. Students will develop professional skills, create a strong resume, learn how to write effective cover letters, practice job interview skills, and explore relevant graduate programs including potentially creating an application packet for graduate school.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Develop a career direction by identifying three top choices for career path and what is required to enter into each profession.
- Demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals in positions of authority.
- Write an effective resume and cover letter to prepare to enter the job market.
- Identify best practices for future job interviews.
- Understand what careers require a graduate degree and how to apply for graduate school.
