NURS 426 - Community-Public Health Nursing Clinical

Students apply the nursing process, promoting equity and justice for individuals, communities, and systems. Grounded in principles of antiracism, restorative justice, and liberatory practice, by conducting equity assessments and implementing advocacy-based interventions to address disparities and drive systemic change.  Note: The Social Justice Overlay requirement is satisfied upon completion of the two-course sequence, NURS 425 and NURS 426.

Breadth Area(s) Satisfied: Overlay - Social Justice
Prerequisites: For pre-licensure: B.S. Nursing major and NURS 410, NURS 411, NURS 416, NURS 412, NURS 413, NURS 418. For post-licensure: B.S. nursing major.
Co-requisites: NURS 425.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: CR/NC grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

1. Apply evidence-based practice and guidelines for health promotion and disease prevention.
2. Design approaches informed by the effects of racism, socioeconomic inequality, policy, and environmental degradation on population health.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of individual, family, community, and systems-level health interventions.
4. Use self-reflection to respond effectively to address root causes of health inequities.
5. Collaborate with partners to design a disaster preparedness and response plan.
