NURS 318 - Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Improvement Units: 2 This course introduces the scientific research process and the critical appraisal of evidence-based health-related research. Focus is on the ethical conduct of research, research evaluation and integration into clinical practice, and the application of research to quality improvement.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Evaluate selected methodologies used in health-related research
- Analyze current and historical ethical behaviors and standards for protection of human subjects
- Critically appraise research that informs evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
- Apply the principles of quality improvement to translational research
