NURS 421 - Nursing Care of Adults II Clinical Units: 3 In this clinical course, students will provide person-centered care to promote, maintain, restore, or provide palliative care for adults with complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses, as well as their families, in partnership with the interprofessional team.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major and all of: NURS 410, NURS 411, NURS 416, NURS 412, NURS 413, NURS 418. Co-requisites: NURS 420. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Integrate nursing knowledge and theory to design, implement, and evaluate safe and compassionate care for adults with complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses and their families.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and clinical judgment in the provision of safe and compassionate care for adults with complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional team in the care of adults experiencing complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses, and their families, to maintain a climate of respect, shared values, and mutual learning.
- Apply nursing leadership skills, quality improvement principles, and evidence-based practice guidelines in the care of adults with complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses.
- Demonstrate CSUEB Nursing Core Values in the care of adults with complex acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses.
- Demonstrate literacy and competency in the use of information and communication technologies that support safe nursing.
