NURS 413 - Nursing Care of Infants, Children, and Adolescents Clinical Units: 2 This clinical course provides opportunities to apply the nursing process and use clinical judgment when caring for infants, children, adolescents, and their families across the continuum of care.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major and all of: HDEV 380 or equivalent , NURS 320, NURS 323, NURS 321, NURS 325, NURS 328, NURS 329, NURS 326. Co-requisites: NURS 412. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate clinical judgement in the design, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, person-centered care of infants, children, and adolescents.
- Conduct developmentally appropriate, comprehensive health assessments of infants, children, and adolescents.
- Demonstrate developmentally appropriate therapeutic communication with infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
- Plan and safely administer medications in the context of care of infants, children, and adolescents.
- Evaluate the impact of psychosocial adaptation and social-political determinants of health on the health and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents.
