NURS 412 - Nursing Care of Infants, Children and Adolescents Units: 2 This course applies the nursing process to pediatric growth and development, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and recovery to deliver person-centered care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major and all of: NURS 320, NURS 323, NURS 321, NURS 325, NURS 328, NURS 329, NURS 326. Co-requisites: NURS 413. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply assessment of growth and development to the care of infants through adolescents.
- Integrate evidence-based nursing care in the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of infants, children, and adolescents with chronic and acute conditions.
- Apply evidence-based nursing care in the health promotion and disease prevention of infants, children, and adolescents.
- Integrate safety, efficacy, person-centered, and developmentally appropriate nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents with complex health conditions.
- Evaluate the role of social and political determinants of health on the health and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents.
