NURS 411 - Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family Clinical Units: 2 This course applies concepts related to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to childbearing families. The focus is on assessment, diagnosis, prioritization, implementation, evaluation and documentation to deliver nursing care to the childbearing family.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major and all of: HDEV 380,NURS 320, NURS 323, NURS 321, NURS 325, NURS 328, NURS 329, NURS 326. Co-requisites: NURS 410. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate use of therapeutic communication to establish trusting relationships with birthing people and their families.
- Develop, implement and evaluate patient-centered nursing care plans to address the needs of the childbearing family.
- Provide safe, evidence based, family-centered nursing care to birthing families.
- Conduct and communicate the findings of a focused assessment with a postpartum dyad and plan, implement, evaluate, and document care .
- Communicate and collaborate with interprofessional team members to provide safe care to members of the childbearing family.
