NURS 310 - Foundations of Professional Nursing Units: 2 This course introduces the profession, practice, and discipline of nursing, emphasizing contemporary issues, theories, concepts, and principles essential to developing and delivering nursing care.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major. Co-requisites: NURS 309. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply foundational theories and concepts from natural, behavioral, scientific, and humanities disciplines to nursing practice
- Integrate principles of professional communication, quality and safety, teaching and learning, interprofessional collaboration, and healthcare technologies in nursing practice
- Demonstrate professional values and ethical standards consistent with the American Nurses’ Association Code of Ethics
- Incorporate knowledge of older adult care principles to support clinical judgment and care practice
