HDEV 401 - Applying Theories and Methods in Human Development Units: 4 Application of theories and methods learned in HDEV 301 and HDEV 302 to people, organizations, and/or settings in the community. Includes research and engagement within a community setting.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: 1. Describe the key features of applied research (e.g., applied qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methods).
2. Describe how applied research and theory can contribute to an understanding of problems or issues within the selected community setting.
3. Reflect on the required 15+ hours of community engagement by applying HDEV theories, research methods, and findings.
4. Identify and analyze issues or challenges in an organization or community setting, including a consideration of social justice, equity and inclusion.
5. Evaluate how the student’s own lifespan development, identity, and biases impact their understanding of the community setting.
