NURS 499 - RN Capstone Project Units: 3 This course focuses on developing, implementing, and evaluating the project in the healthcare setting or community. Student projects may focus on nursing education, leadership, management, and/or evidence-based practice.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing: Post-Licensure Concentration major and NURS 318 or NURS 422. Possible Instructional Methods: Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Utilize critical thinking skills to identify systems problems and suggest cost-effective, client-centered solutions.
- Utilize evidence-based practice protocols or research findings for the delivery of health care.
- Use information and communication technology to effectively gather data, create information, and generate knowledge.
- Apply quality improvement principles in project implementation.
- Analyze the organizational culture of a selected agency as it affects project implementation.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and management skills in professional situations.
- Design organizational policies and/or procedures that maximize human and material resources in meeting personal and organizational goals.
- Demonstrate accountability to the individual, society, and the profession.
