MLL 172 - Elementary Korean II: Language & Arts


Units: 4 ; Breadth Area: GE-3A
Further develop student’s ability to speak, listen, read, and write. Deepen the knowledge of Korean art culture, respond to aesthetic experiences in arts, and demonstrate an understanding of the relationship among the self, the creative arts, and Korean culture.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Comprehend basic written and spoken content at an elementary level.
  2. Compose elementary-level sentences using various adjectives, adverbs, and markers
  3. Acquire and demonstrate an understanding of fundamental grammatical patterns within sentences
  4. Explore the cultural significance of Korean age-related customs and apply appropriate honorific language when communicating with people of different age groups through various forms of media (C1-1, 2)
  5. Engage in conversations on daily life subjects like greetings, places, time, numbers, and activities by using culturally appropriate expressions through diverse cultural resources such as movies, short videos, cartoons, and similar media. (C1-1, 2, 3)
  6. Analyze and respond to diverse elements related to beliefs, history, and identity through both traditional and creative forms of artistic expression (C1-1, 2, 3)
  7. Explore and demonstrate an understanding of the educational aspects and cultural identity within both Korean and local communities in the United States (C1- 3)
