GEOL 102 - Earth Sciences Laboratory Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-5C Laboratory investigation of the Earth system: solid Earth, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and solar system. Geologic materials, maps, earthquakes, landslides, weather, oceans and currents, planets. Required field trip.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Students who complete this course will be able to: Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of the fundamental materials, tools and principles of the Earth Sciences by applying these core ideas to analyze natural processes.
- In this course these fundamental principles and knowledge include: Identification and classification of rocks and minerals;
- Introduction to and practice using topographic, geologic and surface materials maps to interpret geologic environments.
- Collect, analyze and interpret field and laboratory data, including graphing of results.
- Manipulate physical models of the major earth systems such as the oceans and Solar Systems.
- Make field observations and interpret natural and anthropogenic structures affected by fauling and erosion.
