NURS 623 - Organizational Systems and Finance Management in Health Care

Examines organizational health care delivery systems and organizational development from a nursing management perspective. Issues of healthcare economics, financial management, budgeting, current regulatory agency requirements and standards are discussed.

Prerequisites: M.S.N. major.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Analyze structures of health care delivery systems, strategies for organizational development, and financial structures of health care systems.
Analyze economic, legal and political factors and their impact on health care systems.
Discuss implementation and impact of current health care regulations for health care systems.
Differentiate between measures of performance in healthcare settings including capacity, utilization, nursing performance and financial indicators.
Apply principles of budget forecasting, planning, development, management, and control to healthcare settings.
Demonstrate principles of strategic planning. Compare and contrast models of financial analysis including cost benefit analysis in healthcare programs and services.
Describe components of a business plan and health program grant in the healthcare settings.
