NURS 612 - Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology & Health Assessment Units: 4 Emphasis on pathophysiologic processes underlying selected acute and chronic diseases across the life span. Pharmacotherapy and the nurse educator’s role in teaching safe and effective medication management. Comprehensive physical, psychological, and cultural assessments for common diseases in clients and families.
Prerequisites: M.S.N. major. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Integrate physiology and pathogenesis of commonly encountered diseases across the lifespan and special populations.
- Analyze risk factors, symptomatology, and diagnostic findings to select clinical actions and prioritize interventions.
- Integrate pharmacological principles and research advances in pharmacotherapy to evaluate actions, safety, and efficacy of drug therapy for patients with selected complex illnesses.
- Demonstrate understanding of interprofessional collaboration to facilitate patient management and promote optimal health outcomes.
- Discuss the purpose and components of comprehensive health data including risk assessments.
- Perform comprehensive health assessment in a concise and systematic manner.
- Utilize holistic nursing theory to advocate for individual and family in management of common health changes across the life span.
