NURS 604 - Health Equity, Systems of Power, and Population Health Units: 3
This course focuses on critically examining how systems shape the conceptualization, measurement, promotion, and protection of health for individuals, communities, and populations. Students will explore various collaborative strategies to design and evaluate initiatives, programs, and services to advance health equity.
Prerequisites: M.S.N. major. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Describe the social, political, economic, cultural, and historical contexts which have shaped how health is conceptualized, measured, and promoted.
- Analyze historical and current health inequities (local, national, and global) utilizing multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks.
- Evaluate current strategies and initiatives to address health inequities across various settings and geographical contexts.
- Design strategies and solutions to existing health inequities informed by multiple disciplines and communities.
