HOS 200 - Lodging Management Units: 3 This course will introduce students to the principles and practices of managerial functions relating to the operation of hotel and motel facilities, including development, classification, and organization.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: HOS 100 and HOS 110 Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Identify the differences of various types and of hotels, brands, and management operations.
- Demonstrate how hotels utilize Revenue Management and Yield Management, and Social Media Marketing to increase occupancy and average daily rate.
- Describe the duties of the Executive Committee and Department Heads within a hotel showing the inter-relationships among various hotel departments.
- Analyze current trends in the Lodging Industry including Greening, Sustainability, Technology, Revenue Management, Culture and Internal Customers.
