NURS 312 - Health Assessment Units: 2 Introduction to theories needed for application of the nursing process with emphasis on skills useful in data gathering and analysis for completing a health assessment. Normal and abnormal physical, social, and cultural structure and function are explored.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major. Co-requisites: NURS 313. Credit Restrictions: Repeated course may not count toward Major requirements.
Repeatability: May be repeated once for credit for a maximum of 4 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Identify age related, cultural, and situational factors affecting health assessment.
- Describe the components of a complete health history.
- Identify principles and techniques of skilled interviewing.
- Describe the components of a family assessment and genogram.
- Describe the components and process of physical examination.
- Differentiate normal and abnormal physical examination findings.
- Identify topics for health promotion.
- Compare and contrast the roles and responsibilities of the nurse in the process of health assessment and health promotion.
