SLHS 694 - Practicum: Introduction to Treatment Units: 2 Initial clinical practicum for clock hour credit for graduate students. Development, implementation, evaluation of individual therapy plans for clients with speech or language impairments.
Prerequisites: M.S. Speech-Language Pathology major. Co-requisites: SPPA 600. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: ABC/NC grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate appropriate written therapy plans in at least 90% of submissions, per specific client/clinical population treated.
- Develop and implement at least 3 appropriate therapy objectives per semester.
- Demonstrate effective management of a client file (e.g. confidentiality, proper documentation) in 100% of clinical assignments.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 treatment techniques to implement each therapy objective.
- Demonstrate familiarity with at least 3 different methods for data collection of patient data.
- Develop home programs to facilitate carryover of therapy objectives, with a minimum grade of B.
- Complete professional summary reports discussing client progress and future recommendations with a minimum grade of B.
- Collaborate in a minimum of 3 professional interactions with family members, professionals, paraprofessionals or colleagues (e.g., rounds, informal discussions).
