GEOG 462 - Air Photo Interpretation


Units: 3
Principles of airborne remote sensing and image interpretation for environmental resource management. Hands-on experience in photogrammetric stereoscopy, target recognition, and image measurement of spatial data. Lecture Units: 2; Lab Units: 1.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Acquire the technical skills of photogrammetric measurement of target characteristics (including height, size, and scale) in aerial photographs.
  2. Demonstrate quantitative competency in the calculation, preparation, and design of flight mission in aerial survey of ground targets.
  3. Detect and accurately identify physical landform features through stereoscopic interpretation of aerial photographs and site analysis.
  4. Detect and accurately identify cultural land-use features through stereoscopic interpretation of aerial photographs and site analysis.
