TED 471 - Early Childhood Education: Integrated Math and Science Units: 3 Curriculum and instruction for integrated math and science in an early childhood setting. Focus on inquiry-based math and science instruction, emergent numeracy, concepts of number and pattern, and science concepts. Field component required.
Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Development of understandings in mathematics and science content and concepts needed to teach the California Preschool standards, NCTM, and NAEYC principles.
- Components of mathematical concept development including understandings of seriation, patterning, numeracy, and mathematical vocabulary.
- Components of science concept development including understandings of processes of inquiry, exploration, observation, and classification of objects and ideas in the child’s world.
- Methods of engaging family support and involvement in children’s mathematics and science education.
- Theory and practice in the development of early learning experiences in mathematics and science including related vocabulary.
