Methods for working with Special Education students in a single subject classroom.

Prerequisites: Admission to Single Subject Credential Program.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. How to apply appropriate pedagogical practices that provide access to the core curriculum and lead to high achievement for all students.
  2. How to apply pedagogical practices that foster high expectations for academic performance from all participants in all contexts.
  3. How to recognize students’ specific learning needs, place students in appropriate contexts for learning, assist students to have access to needed resources for learning.
  4. The importance of students’ family backgrounds and experiences.
  5. Understand collaborative processes in serving students across the spectrum.
  6. Apply knowledge of various curricula, methods, and standards to enable students to gain academic skills.
  7. Understand the evolving field of special education and legal requirements.
