PSYC 472 - Motivation


Units: 4
Survey of theoretical approaches to understanding human motivation (biological, behavioral, cognitive, social, affective).  Students will apply theories to motivation in real-world contexts (e.g., work, school, relationships) and make suggestions for changing motivation through the principles covered in class.

Prerequisites: PSYC 200.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe, compare, and critique different theoretical perspectives in the field of motivation (biological, behavioral, cognitive, social, affective).
  2. Identify research methods used to study motivation.
  3. Apply theory to understand motivation in everyday settings (e.g., work, school, relationships).
