SOC 444 - Sociology of Violence

The course explores the conduct, causes and consequences of violence between individuals, groups, organizations, communities, and in societies It studies multiple social perspectives of how to prevent, understand and overcome individual and collective violence, including racial violence.

Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Students will be able to critically read, interpret, integrate and synthesize abstract sociological arguments, theories, and practice methods.
Students will be able to effectively communicate and engage in educated, open-minded discussions of diverse socio-cultural beliefs, perspectives, and norms.
Students will be able to read and analyze sociological data and complete a research paper.
Students will be able to embrace social diversity, and critically analyze cultural representations of oppressed populations, while working toward equity and empowerment.
