EDLD 694 - Transformation through Community Solidarity


Units: 1
Leaders for social justice representing school districts, agencies, and higher education institutions will prepare, present, critique and reflect upon the latest research aligning with the departments core principles. Students will take this course for 1 unit twice over two semesters for a total of 2 units.

Repeatability: May be taken twice for a maxiumum of 2 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Development and Implementation of a shared vision. Educational leaders facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision of learning and growth of all students.

2. Instructional Leadership. Educational leaders shape a collaborative culture of teaching and learning informed by professional standards and focused on student and professional growth.

3. Management and Learning Environment. Educational leaders manage the organization to cultivate a safe and productive learning and working environment.

4. Family and Community Engagement. Educational leaders collaborate with families and other stakeholders to address diverse student and community interests and mobilize community resources.

5. Ethics and Integrity. Educational leaders make decisions, model, and behave in ways that demonstrate professionalism, ethics, integrity, justice, and equity and hold staff to the same standard.

6. External Context and Policy. Educational leaders influence political, social, economic, legal and cultural contexts affecting education to improve education policies and practices.
