BAN 675 - Text Mining and Social Media Analytics Units: 3 Covers basic natural language processing techniques, document representation, text categorization, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text visualization, and social media analytics.
Prerequisites: All of: BAN 601, BAN 602, BAN 620. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Represent unstructured text documents in a way that supports text mining algorithms.
- Apply multiple algorithms to classify text documents into different categories.
- Extract thematic structures and subjective information from text documents and generate visual representation using mathematical and programming tools.
- Utilize text mining techniques and social network characteristic measures to perform social influence analysis and social media analysis.
