MUS 495 - Music Education Practicum Units: 1 Practicum experience in K-12 public school class and rehearsal settings, involving observation and teaching under the supervision of music faculty. Focus on practical skills. Regularly scheduled seminars. Field trips required.
Prerequisites: Department consent. Credit Restrictions: Only open for credit to music education majors participating in the music single subject matter preparation program.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Observe outstanding music teachers in authentic K-12 school based classroom and rehearsal settings.
- Observe a variety of age levels and disciplines.
- Experience periodic, supervised teaching experiences.
- Participate in regular seminars.
- Relate experiences to current, relevant issues, such as cultural and other forms of diversity, significant national and global events, etc
