SLHS 695 - Practicum: Treatment Units: 2 Development, implementation, evaluation of individual therapy plans for clients with speech/language/hearing/cognition/swallowing conditions to develop skills in working with clients with multiple needs; increased independence and competency in clinical writing, oral case summarization, and conducting care conferences with family members of clients.
Prerequisites: M.S. Speech Language Pathology major and SLHS 694. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: ABC/NC grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate appropriate written therapy plans in at least 90% of submissions, per specific client/clinical population treated.
- Develop and implement at least 3 appropriate therapy objectives per quarter.
- Demonstrate effective management of a client’s clinical file (e.g. confidentiality, proper documentation) in 100% of clinical assignments.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 techniques to implement each therapy objective.
- Demonstrate familiarity with at least 3 different methods for clinical data collection.
- Develop therapeutic home programs to facilitate carryover of therapy goals, with a minimal grade of B.
- Complete professional summary reports discussing client progress and future recommendations with a minimal grade of B.
- Collaborate in a minimum of 3 professional interactions with family members, professionals, paraprofessionals or colleagues (e.g., rounds, informal discussions) per semester.
