MUS 433 - Choral Music Teaching Methods Units: 3 Development of rehearsal techniques and organizational procedures related to choirs and vocal ensembles in the elementary and secondary schools. Teaching materials and appropriate literature from various stylistic periods. Field trips may be required.
Prerequisites: MUS 341. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Develop musical, curricular, and organizational skills necessary to lead a choral program at the elementary and secondary level
- Refine choral conducting skills, building on the fundamental topics of conducting including inner hearing, breathing, scholarship and expressive interpretation.
- Develop knowledge of instructional materials and score-reading ability.
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct and teach choral music during in-class experiences.
- Develop familiarity with choral music education materials
