CS 641 - Advanced Computer Networks Units: 3 Advanced concepts in computer network theory and practice. Specific emphasis on protocols, services, design issues and performance. Topics may include routing, software-defined networks, data-centers, overlay networks, and wireless technologies. Programming assignments using TCP/IP, and review of literature.
Prerequisites: CS 441 or CS 621. Credit Restrictions: Computer Science M.S. or B.S. students only.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Appraise existing and proposed network architectures, both hardware and software.
- Compare and contrast the implementations of the most commonly used network protocols.
- Design a reliable network protocol and analyze the performance.
- Write software to implement a networked application using the socket API.
- Evaluate methods for providing quality of service in networks.
