Students will demonstrate knowledge of characteristic features of the historical stages of the English language.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of the relationship of the English language to other members of the Indo-European language family.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of the technical vocabulary of and the informational resources available for etymological study.
Students will demonstrate their ability to write critically on topics of importance to English language history.
