DANC 493 - Dance Capstone

Culminating projects and classroom workshop productions of short new works featuring various styles, periods, and challenges. Opportunity to develop a compelling issue into dance, to teach dance, or to serve a substantial internship.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: Complete Core Coursework, four units of Core Production and Performance Coursework, and 18 units of one concentration.
Prerequisites: Senior standing and Theatre Arts major.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

solve problems of production by creating roles, dancing, designing, managing, building, directing, or choreographing performances that address issues of life in striking and remarkable ways;
conduct background research, evaluate scripts, and analyze diverse cultural styles for use in a performance;
reflect on performance techniques and concepts of other performers and apply high standards of reflection to their own production work;
perform an essential role in production, during rehearsal, or on stage.
