ENGR 220 - Statics

An intermediate application of Newtonian mechanics to solve engineering problems. Fundamental concepts of mechanics, including resultants of force systems, free-body diagrams, equilibrium of rigid bodies, and analyses of structures.

Prerequisites: PHYS 135.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Develop knowledge of vector mathematics and application to engineering mechanics.
Draw free-body diagrams. Perform force analysis for external reactions computation.
Define and apply the concepts of particle and rigid-body equilibrium.
