CMPE 421 - Computer Architecture II

Advanced computer organization and design. Topics chosen from among RISC architectures, computer arithmetic, pipelining, cache memory and parallel processors.

Prerequisites: CMPE 323.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand and implement advanced concepts for CPU architecture, such as pipelining, floating point processing and representation, multiplication and division;
  2. Understand and implement the control logic of advanced instructions for a CPU architecture;
  3. Use simulation software to implement advanced components of a CPU architecture processing.
