ENGL 251 - Grammar for Writers Units: 4 Instruction in the structure and style of the standard, literary English sentence. Review of traditional grammar and usage, with attention to the integration of the sentence into its logical and rhetorical contexts.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- analyze the structure and style of English sentences;
- make appropriate grammar and usage choices depending on the intended audience and purpose of a text;
- demonstrate understanding of logical relationships within and between sentences;
- demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which rhetorical contexts shape sentence and discourse level grammar.
