POSC 341 - American Constitutional Law: Government


Units: 3
The American Constitution as a model of government. The role of democracy, federalism, assumptions regarding human nature, citizenship, separation of powers, capitalism, and issues of empire building.

Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Students will understand how law is a product of political, social, and economic forces and how each of these in turn is molded by the law.
  2. Students will be able to describe the main features of the written U.S. Constitution as well as understand the history and interpretation process of that document. 
  3. Students will understand the power of courts and their role in the political process.
