MATH 402 - Mathematics for K-8 Educators I Units: 4 Number systems. Standard and nonstandard algorithms. Divisibility, prime and composite numbers, GCF, LCM. Ratio, proportion, percent. Patterns and functional relationships. Linear and quadratic equations and inequalities. Factoring and completing the square. Systems of linear equations. Real world applications.
Prerequisites: MMP Category II for math or Completion of GE area B4. Credit Restrictions: Not for mathematics major or minor credit.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate that they make sense of numeric and algebraic problems and persevere in solving them.
- Use number sense and algebra to reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments about arithmetic and algebraic properties and critique the reasoning of others.
