KIN 380 - Games Concepts II


Units: 2
Fundamental knowledge of skill acquisition and pedagogical methods for teaching nontraditional and outdoor games and sports. Application of the California State Framework for Physical Education. Active participation in physical activities is required. Lecture Units: 1; Activity Units: 1.

Prerequisites: Department consent.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Attain a basic knowledge of the California State Physical Education Standards as they relate to sports and games.
  2. Demonstrate proficient movement skills and tactics.
  3. Be able to set specific and achievable goals based on individual abilities.
  4. Design an assessment for application of movement concepts.
  5. Design and deliver lessons based on good teaching practices.
  6. Students will be able to articulate the importance of a commitment to life-long physical activity.
