BIOL 620 - Functional Genomics


Units: 3
Laboratory course covering genome-wide analysis of gene and protein function, using molecular techniques. Discussion and practice in experimental design, data mining, and data analysis. Lecture Units: 1; Lab Units: 2

Strongly Recommended Preparation: BIOL 424 .
Prerequisites: BIOL 415 or BIOL 427.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of concepts and principles of Functional Genomics.
  2. Apply “data mining” strategies with modern experimental approaches to analyze gene function.
  3. Critically evaluate applications of Functional Genomics.
  4. Communicate scientific approaches in form of oral presentations and written lab reports.
