CS 321 - Computer Architecture


Units: 3
Logical design of digital computers. Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential circuits, computer arithmetic, memories, integrated circuits, control processors, input/output.

Prerequisites: CS 211 and CS 221, both with grade C- or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Analyze the design of instruction sets;
  2. Compare pipelining techniques;
  3. Explain issues in hierarchical memory system design;
  4. Classify and describe parallel computer architectures;
  5. Demonstrate the ability to program microprocessors in assembly language.
