NURS 493 - Nursing Research in Global Health


Units: 1
Overview of global health nursing research. Students will read, interpret and evaluate global health research publications. Emphasis on women and infant health issues and critical analysis of research.

Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Discuss factors that influence global health research.
  2. Discuss research strategies to improve global health.
  3. Analyze the environmental political and cultural factors that impact conducting global health research.
  4. Analyze the biopsychosocial, environmental, political, and cultural factors that impact global health for women.
  5. Apply concepts relevant to women’s health.
  6. Discuss the multidimensional influences on women’s health globally.
  7. Discuss strategies to improve women and infants’ health globally.
  8. Describe social determinants and cultural influences on health and the related factors contributing to disparities in health outcomes for women and infants.
