NURS 412 - Pediatric Nursing


Units: 2
This course is designed to provide essential knowledge in the design and delivery of care and integration of the growth and development principles, health promotion, disease prevention, and recuperative care to the child with acute and chronic illnesses and their families.

Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major and all of: NURS 320, NURS 321, NURS 322, NURS 323, NURS 326, NURS 327.
Co-requisites: NURS 413.
Credit Restrictions: Repeated course may not count toward Major requirements.

Repeatability: May be repeated once for credit for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Integrate essential knowledge related to health promotion in the care of children with chronic and acute diseases.
  2. Apply disease prevention strategies in the care of the child with chronic and acute diseases.
  3. Identify normal growth and development from infancy through adolescence
  4. Integrate recuperative care interventions in the care of the child and their families.
  5. Apply essential nursing knowledge in the design and delivery of care to children with complex health needs.
